Headwind

We were in no rush to set out from Caribou Cove as the wind was still blowing. It was supposed to be 15 knots but shore line effect seemed to have ramped it up. We stopped at a point with a sand beach and took an extended break as the winds were to diminish in the late afternoon. We set out the solar panels and relaxed until after 3 pm. Once underway we regretted not deciding to camp on the sand beach as we paddled on and on to find a place to camp. We camped in a little bay of conglomerate rock with no beach at Finch Head just before the Moffatt Channel. We found 3 spots to set up tents, ate dinner and slept. I think we paddled about 14 miles.

Another 20 some miles

Really a 20 mile day is not a big deal..more a typical day. Though with my mending shoulder it's pretty good and due largely to a tail wind the second half. Predicted 25 knot south winds caused us to take the inside route of large St Ignace Island. The outside is of course the preferred side and much more coast-ally scenic but we would be wind bound a day or 2 on the outside I suspect. Anyway we again are camping at a place with a sauna.. We did the sauna.. had dinner and are now in the little cabin connecting online with Wilderness Classrooms MiFi Mobile Hotspot.
I should mention we had a moose wonder across to the camp this evening.

Evening moose

As we were having dinner in the little cabin at Caribou Cove a young moose came out of the woods and started walking toward us. I took this photo of Dave taking a photo with his big lens. I guess we kind of chased it away?
